Old Books

23 Oct

So J and I were perusing his library of medical school books. We stood there looking at them and wondered what on earth we were going to do with all these books! There are so many! They all have been highlighted and marked to death. So what do we do with them? We thought of having a bonfire but they were so expensive! Can’t we get at least a little back?

So I am asking all of you… What did you do with ALL THOSE BOOKS? Keep? Sell? Use them for White Elephant gifts? πŸ˜‰ Heard of anything creative or original?

New Nephew

16 Oct

So yesterday I got to spend a lot of time with my family. I went to my sister’s ultrasound where we saw that she was indeed having a little boy! Yay! Then we (me, sister, nephew and another sister) went shopping and out to lunch, all to be followed by having a family dinner to celebrate my brother-in-law’s birthday! I am cherishing these times where I get to spend all day with them because I don’t know where we will be next year. Happy weekend!

$500 To You and You and You and You

14 Oct

So we are starting to book flights, hotels and rental cars for J’s interviews. OMG! SO EXPENSIVE! I feel like every interview is costing $500! yowza! We are booking them through Expedia or other sites like it to get a good deal, but why do they have to offer interviews during the holiday season? gar! Anything in late November is so expensive. Anyone have any suggestions to cut down costs? We are trying to stay with friends as much as possible but that isn’t always possible everywhere we go. Help! I don’t want to go broke!

Interview Offers

12 Oct

So I feel as though this past week has been a whirlwind in the interview offer world. WeΒ were getting like one interview every other Friday. Can you say Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  S-L-O-W! I was really starting to think that March would never get here! Geez! This is such a long, strung out process! We heard last week from one of the places that we were seriously excited about and how they didn’t want us 😦 BOO! That really takes a hit on you. But then today happened!!!! Holy Cow! I was at work and my phone kept beeping away in my little pocket. So I would step out, go to the bathroom and pretend to pee so I could check my texts. J was texting me all the places as they came in! We got 5 interviews today! Yahoo! And some pretty big name places too! They are all around the country and both for intern year and rad years. I don’t know what I’m more excited about… the interviews themselves or all the traveling! πŸ™‚ I’m still not too sure how many interviews I can go to so we shall see about that. But this process just got a lot more fun! People actually like us him! Happy Tuesday!

Pumpkin Patch

9 Oct

Today we went over to our local pumpkin patch with some friends we met through J’s med school class. J and M are in the same year. He has 2 adorable kiddos and one amazing wife! So the 6 of us spent a few hours there today. Man has it been forever since we have been to a pumpkin patch! These places are SO COOL! They had so much to do I felt like I was at Disneyland! Ok, slightly overreacting but hey! It was really cool. They had they normal stands of pumpkins and the patch where “U PICK”. Then they had a corn maze, a monkey, a hay castle, a ton of bouncy-thingy-ma-bobs, and food! Even a little shopping mixed in just for me πŸ™‚ It was so much fun! I am definitely coming back with my nephew when I can steal him away for a weekend! J and I were talking about many cool places like this we have been missing out on because we don’t have kids. lol I suggested that we can fix that problem rather quickly, and he rather quickly changed the subject πŸ˜‰ Oh well. A girl can try!

Here we are in the middle of the cute little pumpkin patch

This was the BIG pumpkin I chose, but then was forced to find one that would actually fit in our trunk… minor detail! πŸ˜‰ So I chose this other little guy instead.

The kiddos searching for their perfect pumpkin… while their daddy is busy talking to J about residencies πŸ™‚

All in all, we had a great time with our great friends!

Welcome Fall

4 Oct

This past weekend we went up to Spokane, Washington. No, not for an interview {yet}, for a wedding. J’s (and mine now, too) childhood friend got married on her parent’s property up there. I’ve never been to WA and was very excited to go. We found out that our friends were on our flight too! Way exciting! We arrived in Spokane in the dark =( on Friday but Saturday was beautiful! Clear skies. Trees with leaves changing colors. Crisp air. Blue water. It was a perfect day. Especially since our first few days of “fall” back home were anything but this. HOT! HOT! HOT! Sunday was cold and rainy… which was fabulous! I love changing weather! We slipped over to Coeur D’Alene for the morning and walked around. Loved it! Anyway here are some pics of our little trip πŸ™‚ Enjoy!
